1. Start with the intended lead
Select Create Job in the top bar. Open Select lead, choose the intended person, then continue with Create job to reach the contract builder. Check the name in the Customer section before entering the engagement details.
The customer must already exist as a lead. If the picker is empty or the person is missing, return to Leads and confirm the record and its assignment before trying again. The example shows earlier test leads; your list will reflect your account.
2. Describe the work the client will receive
In Services, choose the primary Service type. Use Others only when the listed categories do not describe the work, then enter the service name in the field that appears.
Write a specific Description; the builder allows up to 1,000 characters. Explain the period covered, what you will do, what the client must provide and what is excluded. Add each distinct output under Deliverable using + Add Deliverable.
3. Make the scope concrete
Review and reconcile the client’s September 2026 bank and credit-card activity using the records they provide. Deliver a reconciled transaction summary and a list of unresolved questions. Client supplies complete statements and explanations for unclear transactions. Payroll processing, prior-period cleanup and tax-return preparation are outside this engagement unless separately agreed.
For this example, use two deliverables: “September reconciled transaction summary” and “Unresolved transaction questions.” A label such as “bookkeeping” alone does not tell the client what they will receive or where the work ends.
4. Review signature, milestones and intake
- E-Signature: review the professional signature requirement before sending an agreement.
- Payment Info: name the phases, choose due dates, enter amounts and compare Total cost, the displayed Uncle Kam fee and You’ll receive.
- Tax Organization Form: preview and select only questionnaires relevant to this engagement.
- Documents Request: check every requested item and remove unrelated template items from the unsent request list.
The fee shown belongs to the account and the job being prepared. Read that calculation rather than copying the percentage or minimum from a help screenshot.
5. Choose draft preparation or a ready agreement
Draft Mode changes the final action to Save Draft and disables the milestone entry area. The in-product Services guide describes drafts as work saved without sending the agreement, invoices or notifications until publication.
Use this state while scope or pricing still needs work. Treat any selected forms and document requests as preparation until their actual dispatch is confirmed. When the agreement is ready, review its terms, customer, signature and totals before completing the applicable final action. Then inspect the saved job and agreement state; an open builder does not establish that the client received or signed anything.
Common questions
Why is the client missing from Select lead?
The picker uses existing leads. Check that the person exists in Leads and is assigned appropriately for your account before starting the job.
What belongs in the description?
State the service, period covered, included work, client inputs and exclusions. Put concrete outputs in Deliverable. The description allows up to 1,000 characters.
Does Save Draft send the agreement?
The Services Field Guide says draft jobs are saved without being sent to the client and do not generate invoices or notifications until publication. Check actual dispatch separately for forms or requests.
Is the percentage in the screenshot my fee?
No. Review the fee and net amount displayed for your own account and job. The captured example is not a universal pricing schedule.
